Leyla Güven, Co-president of the DTK and HDP deputy  on hunger strike for 73 days in order to break the carceral isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, has written a letter addressed to the thousands of people who went down in the streets of Amed today with the same objective.

Roj Info shares with its readers the contents of this letter read by deputy Dersim Dağ during the great assembly organized today, Saturday January 19, in Amed (Diyarbakır), in support of the struggle launched by the jailed deputy to put an end to Öcalan’s isolation.

UPDATE — January 25, 2019:
Leyla Güven has been released.

There are still 9 HDP MPs, 58 HDP mayors, and thousands of HDP voters and activists unjustly jailed in Turkey.

Dear people, dear comrades,

Greetings to Amed’s luminous faces, Serhad and Botan.

I salute every one of you and repeat my conviction that we will succeed together in this difficult but historical process.

The isolation imposed on M. Öcalan is an obstacle on the course to a durable social peace.  M. Öcalan is an important actor in the construction of social peace. He has proven this on numerous occasions, through his pratical and theoretical experiments. All of society is aware of this fact. Because they know what positive results there would be to the acceptance of my demand, persons between the ages of 7 and 70 years, in jails and outside of them, have subscribed to my action from the first day onward.

We believe we will get results once we manage to have my voice, our voices, heard somehow on the outside and on the inside.

This tenacious people, these women in love with freedom and democracy, these youths – all of them, once again, will play a role against the tyrants, as they have done from the times of Dehaq until today, and they will vanquish, no matter what the price.

With our faith and our will, we will carry out our resistance until victory. In these historical times we are living, it is for me a fantastic expression of motivation and enthusiasm to join up with with in breakding down the walls, on the basis of a free consciousness and will, and to created the field of our free expression for tomorrows rid of captivity.

I want to say that I breathe a life reality for which it is worth dying and that I am at a stage where I would joyfully embrace death for this cause. On this day of resistance on the other side of the walls, I salute you once again with the conviction that we shall win. I salute your revolutionary hearts with affection and comradship.
