After Özgecan I’m gobsmacked.
This young woman’s murder is just a symbol, a detonator, the drop that overfills the cup. And the cup is an ocean.
Özgecan is not the first nor is she the last, alas, who will be assassinated. So many other women, our daughters, our sisters, our mothers, suffer from or will be subjected to violence and you will not see them in the media. Brains formatted by and for a man’s society so often need refreshing.
This calls for a real spring cleaning, all windows open to air out, air out… To sweep the dirt, vacuum the dust, remove the cobwebs covering the ceiling, wash the floors and walls with vigorous strokes from a soapy mop. It takes a lot of energy and willpower, especially to counter those who enter with dirty shoes, tracking their muddy paws everywhere and transforming life into a dark and dirty place…
I have neither the strength nor the heart for a long speech. This pretty Turkish proverb my mother taught me speaks volumes : “When the Imam farts, the flock shits ».
You over there, you have your DSK (Dominique Strauss-Kahn), we have our swollen heads over here.
Here is proof press that press clippings can turn into remarkable collections.
